Blue Days....

With the cold weather sticking around, students will continue to have indoor recess at lunch. Please continue to ensure your child has weather appropriate clothing because, if by chance, it warms up enough in the afternoon we will be going out for a short 10 minute body break.

We have finished reading our read aloud, "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" and will be watching the movie next week to do a comparison and to see how a movie is created using stop motion as students are creating their own movie to show an S4 concept. This movie is rated PG. If you do not want your child to participate in the viewing of the movie, please let us know.

During our literacy time, we have been focusing on poetry. We will continue our investigation of poetry for the next few weeks.

We have started looking at triple digit addition strategies and will be moving onto triple digit subtraction strategies this week. Please ask your child what strategy they use and have them explain the process to you. We will also be starting our measurement unit. Looking at the different types of measurement, both non-standard and standard.

Students will be finishing their country brochures this week and will be given an opportunity to share them with their peers. Students will also be working on their stop motion video for our S4 (Start Smart Stay Safe) scenario. Once we have finished them, students will be able to share with peers and family. Our passion projects are also in the final stages of completion. Once students have finished their project, they will share within the class. They will also be able to share with you at home as the projects have been completed on OneDrive.

REMINDERS:

Please return swimming forms.

If you are able to volunteer, please let us know. We are still needing parents to help.

RAZ KIDS:

On Friday, every student received their RAZ Kids username and password which will enable them to access this program at home.

VALENTINES DAY

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday. If your child would like to hand out cards, please address to "My Friend" signed with their name. We will not be sending out a class list. Both classes have 21 students.

We will have a class celebration during the afternoon. Students are welcome to bring their favourite board game or game to share with their peers. They are also welcome to bring a special snack to eat.
