Finally Some Nice Weather!!

Mother Nature has finally decided to bring on Spring! With this nicer weather, our playground is developing more puddles and has a lot of mud. Please remind your child that, although really fun, playing in those puddles is not a great place to play during body break and lunch recess.

We have started working on multiplication during math. We have looked at how to 'read' a multiplication question, using the term "groups of" when reading the problem. An example would be: 4 X 5 = _____ , we would read it as 4 times 5, which also means 4 GROUPS OF 5. Students then worked with manipulatives to create the equal groups of this equation and solve for the product. We have also looked at 'repeated addition' which would look like: 5+5+5+5= ____, and arrays as other strategies.

We will continue with multiplication strategies for the next few weeks.

We are continuing with our research into the 4 different countries and are using the information we find in the text book to create jot notes and non-fiction paragraphs.

Reminders:

If you would like to purchase Cranston School clothing, please note that the deadline is TUESDAY MARCH 19.

Our In-school field trip is also TUESDAY MARCH 19. We are still missing some permission forms. It is imperative that these are returned prior to the presentation, as your child will not be able to participate if the form is not received.

We will be going to Aggie Days on Friday April 5. As this is a very busy field trip experience, we are looking for as many parent volunteers as possible so our groups are small and kids are able to enjoy the activities. If you are able to join us, please email your childs teacher. This will be a full day field trip. As we will be returning to Cranston around 2:30 (exact time to be confirmed closer to date) you will need to arrange for pick up of your child from the front door of the school. Please note that students will not be able to walk home alone or meet you at your regular meeting spot. Mrs. Grummett or Ms. Weldrick need to make contact with an adult before your child will be released.

Enjoy your weekend and the Spring weather!
