November Already!?

This week we celebrated Halloween and PJ day and are beginning our discussions about Remembrance Day. Although fun to eat, please remind your child that sweet treats are not an appropriate morning snack choice. We have been encouraging students to make healthier choices that will keep them energized and full until lunch.

Our classes together with Miss. Brett and Miss. Thomas's grade 2 classes will be hosting our Remembrance Day Assembly next week on Friday November 9, 2018. If you would like to join us, our assembly will begin at 10:40am, doors will be open around 10:30am. Please speak with your child regarding the importance of this day and their expected behaviour during the assembly.

We will be starting our addition and subtraction unit in math next week. Our focus will be developing strategies to successfully complete addition and subtraction of single and double digit numbers working towards three digit numbers.

We have completed our mapping unit in Social Studies by creating and designing our Autobiography Island. This island contained answers to a variety of questions about our life like: favourite food, favourite subject, family traditions and family vacations. Ask your child what questions they represented on their island.

We will be finishing up our rocks and minerals unit in Science next week and will begin our hearing and sound unit.

Scholastic Book order forms went home this week for the month of November. The order date for this month will be FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9. Our December flyers will be coming in a few weeks and will due by the first week of December to ensure orders are received before the break.

**Please remember that it is Daylight Savings this weekend. Clocks to go back an hour**

Check our monthly calendar on the website for important dates regarding fun lunch, PD days and school events.

Have a great weekend!
