Swimming, Sports Day and DAYLIGHT SAVINGS

This past week we perfected our swimming strokes and water safety skills. During our time at the pool, the students gained confidence and attempted various skills that may have been scary and new, but completed every task with smiles on their faces!

A HUGE thank you to our parent volunteers that came and supported our kids with changing in and out of swim suits and cheering them on from the stands! We could not have done it without your help. THANK YOU!!!

As the weather warmed up we had our Winter Sports Day this morning. Students participated in a variety of activities with peers, getting some much needed time outside in the fresh air!

In the classroom this week, we reviewed our triple digit adding and subtraction strategies. Please continue to have conversations and practice these skills with your child at home. We will be moving onto multiplication next week and a solid foundation of number concepts will make this new topic easier to understand. We also continued our work with measurement with calculating perimeter and converting centimeter measurements into metres. Next week we will be working on time, focusing on how to read the clock and taking a closer look into the days of the week, month, year.

Throughout our inquiry time, we have completed our initial comparison of the different countries we are studying; Peru, Ukraine, India and Tunisia. Our investigations into these counties will continue throughout the next few months. We also had a special guest come in to talk to us about the celebrations of Eid and Ramadan. If you would like to share any celebrations or traditions observed in your family, please contact Mrs. Grummett or Ms. Weldrick to set up a time to share with the class.

Cranston School t-shirts and hoodies are available for purchase until March 19. Please see the message sent out via school messenger for prices and sizes.

Please return Field trip forms for our in-school presentation.

Ms. Weldrick is in need of one more parent volunteer. If you would like to help, please let her know. For those parents who are joining us, please note that you will not need to sign a volunteer form as we are not leaving the school, but still require a valid police clearance.

*** Don't forget that our clocks go AHEAD one hour this weekend ***

Enjoy the weekend!
