Welcome Back

Hope everyone had a relaxing break and created some wonderful memories!

Our first week back was full of excitement and stories as the kids shared what they did over the break.

In math we are continuing our review of double digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping. We will be moving onto triple digit addition and subtraction this week. Please speak with your child about what strategies we have been using in class and what strategy they like using best. What strategy they use is up to them, as long as they are able to explain their thinking and reasoning. We have also introduced geometry. We have looked at the different shapes and are able to identify the names of each polygon based on the number of sides it has.

During inquiry we have reviewed our understanding of 'needs and wants' are as well as 'rights and responsibilities'. We will be using this knowledge to create our own country. Students have completed some brain storming and will now begin to sort and identify their ideas.

We will be starting our investigation into animals and their life cycles in the next few weeks.

Our reading and writing times, continue to focus on story development and creating pieces with a beginning, middle and end with a clear problem and solution. We will be looking at using voice throughout the coming weeks.
